Where Your Donation Goes

  • Management of the Memorial Construction Process

    Ongoing management of the project includes managing the pre-development process, securing and supplementing multiple funding streams, coordinating the construction team, collaborating with the 20th ward and our neighbors, and planning for the opening of the memorial.

  • Stipends for Torture Survivors and Family Members

    Survivors and their family members continue to be a core part of the operations of CTJMF and are paid stipends for this outreach and community engagement work.

  • Community Outreach

    In a neighborhood with below-average internet access, a majority of its senior residents living alone, and a poverty rate double the city’s, community outreach work is necessary and will need to be creative to reach all our neighbors.

  • Mutual Aid and Program Development

    We have big plans for future programming at the memorial site, including a cultural workforce development program for survivors of police violence, educational and arts-based programs for all ages, and continued mutual aid projects like food distributions and community clean-ups.

  • Accessibility

    After value-engineering the memorial to reduce costs, we are re-prioritizing accessibility audits, initiatives, and technology to assure that all of our community can fully be a part of the memorial’s life.

  • Grant Research and Applications

    The CTJMF team is constantly searching and applying for grant opportunities to sustain and expand the work we’re able to do.

Become a Social Justice Pollinator

Last year, we launched the Social Justice Pollinators Hive Membership Program. This program is designed to raise funding for CTJMF through relationship building. Deepening relationships with our biggest supporters and growing our network to include a broader base is our goal. We believe relationship building will result in the elevation of our profile in the community and in other funding circles. Hive members receive several perks, including but not limited to:

  • An exclusive hive membership enamel lapel pin
  • Guaranteed and/or early bird entry into events and programming
  • Discounted or complimentary entrance to specific ticketed events
  • A complimentary beverage at CTJMF events when a cash bar is available
  • VIP/discounted access to new CTJMF swag before it is made available to the public
  • Acknowledgement in our annual report, on our website, social media, and at public events, when appropriate
  • Access to special programming at the memorial site’s honorary pollinator garden, when constructed

Anyone can join the program with a minimum commitment of $5 per month or $60 per year. The collective financial commitments of the hive will help CTJMF offset costs to ensure that events, programming, and the memorial site itself will be accessible to survivors, their family members, other directly impacted communities, future neighbors of the memorial, and CPS students.
