On July 8, Tom Callahan organized an early screening of his film Remembering Water and raised funds for CTJMF. The event included an Irish musical performance by Jimmy Keane and was followed by a panel discussion—including torture survivor Stanley Howard and Mary L. Johnson, activist and mother of torture survivor Michael Johnson—reflecting on the issues this film brings to light. Attendees also learned about the memorial honoring police torture survivors and watched the CTJMF short film.

About the film: Amidst the current genocide of Gaza, Remembering Water (30 mins with captions) explores filmmaker Tom Callahan’s journey of understanding Irish ancestry, white supremacy, his family’s assimilation, and how these legacies have brought us to this point of collective crisis and possibility.

The event was held at the PO Box Collective, a creative collective and intergenerational social practice center dedicated to building community through radical art making, mutual aid, and programming.
